BBC Arabic aims to provide access to the information and ideas everyone needs to make sense of in an increasingly complex world. Through its emphasis on specialist knowledge, international newsgathering, its breadth of programmes and ground hitting documentaries, BBC Arabic seeks to deliver a broad range of news packages, covering current affairs, arts, science, sports, politics, and business. At the heart of our journalistic efforts are breaking news stories, high quality analysis and accurate, balanced reporting delivered in a fast paced environment and against tight deadlines.

As BBC Arabic is seeking to grow, enhance and expand its services, we want to attract new talent – and that might mean you!

Are you the right candidate?

You’ll have sharp production and writing skills, both in Arabic and English. You will also have some journalism experience. You’ll know how to prioritise and use your initiative and meet deadlines - often under pressure. You will need exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
You will need a good knowledge of our editorial agenda and be able to respond to a fast-moving news environment. Candidates should enjoy working to tight deadlines and bring plenty of story, contributor and production ideas to the role.

You will be expected to work across our platforms and have an understanding of the different production methods as well as audience needs. You will be comfortable with technology and social media, able to pick up new skills and turn ideas into engaging coverage. Our journalism needs to reflect and understand the audiences we serve. We are therefore actively seeking a very diverse candidate pool.

You will have experience of:

  • Pitching ideas for TV, radio, digital, social media or interactive content
  • Developing new content
  • Finding ways of encouraging existing and potential audiences to engage with our content
  • Operating broadcast equipment and editing software
  • Writing clear and concise material
  • Working in a journalistic environment
  • Providing first class administrative support
