Internal Communication and Engagement Lead

Job pay range: £35,250.00 - £55,000.00
Internal Communications and Engagement (IC&E) sits right at the centre of the BBC. It connects our 21,000 employees to each other, our diverse culture, the BBC’s public purpose and mission, and the Director-General’s vision.
The Radio & Education division of the BBC is making a series of changes to ensure we remain relevant to the next generation of audiences. This includes making changes to our content offer; but also to how we work.
Throughout 2018 we have been working with colleagues across the division to begin this process. We are particularly interested in how we can become more agile, responsive and innovative. We identified what we needed to stop, start and continue doing to make our culture even better, and agreed to:

We have developed the first stage of our plan and now need to implement this across the division.
- Lead on and oversee our communications campaigns and projects, making sure they’re relevant and measurable, and that they reach the right people.
- Develop full programme of proactive, consistent and transparent leadership communications and help increase visibility of leaders and opportunities to connect.
- Make sure our materials and messages line up with the BBC’s bigger-picture messages.
- Cultivate relationships with IC&E Heads, senior leaders across the BBC and the Press Office.
- Work as part of team to deliver end to end change projects, advising on internal communications including strategy and all stakeholder management.
- Come up with business continuity and crisis communications plans that protect our people and reputation.
- Come up with strategies that make our channels and communications better for our audiences.
- Advise on effective communications, industry trends, pan-BBC channel strategies and managing stakeholders and influencers.
- Coach and mentor junior members of the IC&E team
- Help the Director and Head of IC&E to plan and deliver major announcements, launches and events.
- Deputise for the Head of IC&E in your division when needed.
- Write and edit communications, making sure the tone is right, the messages line up with our strategy and explain why it’s relevant to employees
