The commercial subsidiary, BBC Studios Ltd. has two internal London based post production operations (The Media Hub and The Edit Village). Together the operation offers low cost post production to Events/Factual productions, the channel creative team and provides the infrastructure and technical support for other departments such as: Creative Services, BBC.com, You Tube & Consumer Products.
We are seeking a Head of Post Production on a 12 month maternity contract, reporting into the Head of Production Operations (Production) and EVP of Operations (Sales and Distribution). The areas of responsibility include managing a team of editors, audio engineers, digital technicians and bookings teams, in addition to overseeing the professional running of edit suites, audio suites, desktop systems and all supporting software, hardware and production storage infrastructure. The role will lead on developing creativity and ensuring value for money, making recommendations for change, improvement and efficiencies. You’ll also act as business lead in a post production project refreshing our technical equipment happening this year.
Ensure both areas are fully operational and capable of peak performance on a daily basis and to ensure they meet the technical and creative requirements of all clients, both internal and external.
Lead an internal project for a technical refresh of the post production infrastructure at Edit Village and Media Hub.
Develop and sustain a professional environment and provide a high level of customer service and technical standards.
Manage the operational budgets, capital expense objectives and income forecasts.
Communicate our workflows to internal and external partners.
Manage internal teams and stakeholders who may have questions about UHD, 4K, etc.

We are looking for a confident, experienced and enthusiastic Head of Post Production to manage all operational activity across the two teams. You’ll possess the emotional intelligence to lead a team of 11 people in an ever changing environment and across short form and long form content and have a deep understanding of the complexities involved.
As Head of Post Production you will be able to motivate diverse teams and give clear feedback, tackling performance issues promptly and encouraging high performance. Able to drive change and deliver continuous improvement, you will contribute creative ideas and helps translate them into practical plans. You’ll demonstrate a proactive work ethic, suggesting creative solutions to solve problems and to work within resource constraints.
Actively contributing to the production process, you’ll work closely with editorial colleagues to balance editorial aspirations with resource and compliance constraints. Strong technical knowledge is required in this post, with strong knowledge of Adobe products.
